Frequently asked questions about investing in Paraguay

How the Paraguayan securities market works, what Invertipy does and does not do, and what is worth knowing before putting money into a bond.

Data updated on 01 September 2026.

What is Invertipy?

Invertipy is a free aggregator of investment opportunities on the Paraguayan securities market.
We bring together in one place the 220 active bonds listed on the Asunción Stock Exchange (BVA) and BVPASA, with their rate, term, currency and credit rating, updated every day.
We are not a broker-dealer, we do not execute trades and we charge investors no commission.

How much money do I need to start investing?

It depends on the instrument and the broker. Each broker sets its own minimum when you open an account, and we do not publish a figure today because we have not confirmed it for the instruments in the catalogue. Check directly with a CNV-licensed broker before deciding.

Does Invertipy charge a commission?

No, Invertipy charges investors no commission. Using the site to compare instruments is free.

What types of instruments can I find?

The catalogue currently lists 220 bonds, both corporate and government. Nominal annual rates range from 5.50% to 16.00% in guaraníes and from 5.00% to 9.15% in US dollars, with terms from 14 to 125 months. We do not list shares, CDAs, BOTEs or trusts yet: we will add them once we have complete BVA data for that instrument type.

Is it safe to invest through Invertipy?

Invertipy only displays information: it does not hold funds, does not execute trades and is not regulated by Paraguay's Comisión Nacional de Valores (CNV). The actual investment is made through brokers licensed and supervised by the CNV. Every investment carries risk, including the risk that the issuer does not pay, and the credit rating we display is a rating agency's opinion, not a guarantee.

Do I need an account with a broker?

Yes. Buying any instrument on the Asunción Stock Exchange requires opening an account with a CNV-licensed broker. Invertipy does not open accounts or take part in the process: the relationship is directly between you and the broker.

What happens if the issuer does not pay?

You bear the credit risk as the investor. If the issuer defaults, you can lose part or all of your capital. That is why we publish each issue's credit rating: higher ratings indicate lower estimated risk and generally come with lower rates.

Is interest taxed?

Yes. Investments in Paraguayan market instruments are subject to withholding taxes that vary by instrument type and by each investor's situation. The simulator shows gross returns, before taxes and fees. Check with your broker or an accountant for your specific case.

Can I sell before maturity?

It depends on the instrument. Some bonds trade on the Asunción Stock Exchange's secondary market, but liquidity is limited and there may be no buyer when you want to sell. It is best to invest money you will not need before maturity.

How do I get my money at maturity?

At maturity, the broker credits the capital and interest as agreed with you when you opened the account. The specific procedure and timing are set by each broker, not by Invertipy.

Where does your data come from?

From Asunción Stock Exchange publications, which we collect once a day. Every instrument in the catalogue links to its original listing so you can verify any figure at the source. The full process is described on our methodology page.

Does Invertipy recommend where to invest?

No. We give no investment recommendations and express no opinion on which instrument is preferable. We show comparable data so you can decide with better information, but the decision and its consequences are yours.
